Back in March a number of people from more than about a dozen organisations got together to discuss the quality of New Zealand’s democracy at an informal hui in Wellington. I was there. We discussed the good, the bad and what needs to happen for people to feel more included and less marginal to the political and decision making processes. Here is the result. What do you think?
Should the quality of our democracy be an election issue? Are these the issues? How do you find out about political party commitments to a deeper democracy?
These images will be printed and the QR code on them links to an election 2014 page on the public good website. If we can we will advise specific promises that parties make on the quality of democratic engagement provided for in their election manifestos.
